The Kaifeng Lecture "Open cities: Dialogue between Richard Sennett and Saskia Sassen" was held in Tsinghua University

Exploring how modern urban citizens habituate and how to create city culture to arrange life and rest minds is a standing point for Kaifeng Foundation to support academic study on thoughts. In exploring this issue, Kaifeng Foundation provided support to Richard Sennett, a professor dedicated to urban issue study at London University and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Saskia Sassen, a professor of sociology at Columbia University. The foundation also invited them to Beijing for academic study and exchanges this February.
On the evening of February 27th, the two scholars gave a lecture entitled “Open Cities: Dialogue between Richard Sennett and Saskia Sassen” at the lecture hall of the Public Management School of Tsinghua University. They demonstrated their requirements for and solutions to urban development problems. All seats were taken and more than 200 professors and students had a in-depth interaction with the invited guest speaker.
Lecture is chaired by Mr. Gan Dongyu, secretary- general of Kaifeng. Mr. Xue Lan, the Dean of the Public Management School attended the lecture as a distinguished guest.
